About MHR . . .

         Tradition, Mission, Statements of Belief

              and the School Improvement Process

Our Tradition . . .

Founded in 1954, Most Holy Redeemer Inter-Parochial School of Tampa, Florida, offers excellence in Catholic education from Kindergarten through 8th Grade.

Our Mission . . .

The mission of Most Holy Redeemer Inter-Parochial School is to educate the whole person - body, mind, and soul by following in the footsteps of Jesus and the teachings of the Catholic Church.

Our Statements of Belief . . .

1. Each student is a unique child of God.

2. A safe and comfortable learning environment increases a student's potential.

3. A healthy learning environment is everyone's responsibility.

4. Catholic education is an integral part of the church's mission to proclaim the gospel message of Jesus, to build faith communities, to celebrate through worship, and to serve others without distinction.

5. The opportunity for success is an important component of student learning.

6. Ongoing evaluation and improvement of the curriculum is crucial to the development of a sound educational program.

7. A Catholic school reflects the integration of Catholic faith and values with learning and life.

8. A supportive and challenging learning environment increases a student's potential for responsible decision making.

9. Students learn in a variety of ways.

10. Student learning is a priority in this school.

11. Mutual respect among and between the students and staff creates a wholesome learning environment.

12. The curriculum furnishes instruction in Catholic truths and moral values that are an integral part of the school program.

The School Improvement Process . . .

The School Improvement Process (SIP) is a continuing process that directly supports the Mission and is guided by the Statements of Belief.

Goals

Currently, the SIP has identified three school-wide goals:

Goal 1: Students will improve math scores by a minimum of 2 percentile points over the next five years in concepts and estimation, problem solving, and computation on the ITBS for grades 3-8.

Goal 2: Students will improve the quality of writing by a minimum of 1 percentile point over the next five years in language arts and expression on the ITBS for grades 3-8.

Goal 3: Students will improve their ability to deal with disagreements and conflict based on the number of detentions given.

Strategies and Programs

The SIP has incorporated a number of strategies and programs into our school's existing programs. Some programs were in existence before the current iteration of the SIP and will continue to be used. Others have been expanded. And, finally, some new programs have been added.
