. . . Odyssey of the Mind Tampa Bay Regional Tournament February 19, 2011

The Odyssey of the Mind competition is a creative problem solving activity. Students select a problem, create a solution, then present it in competition against other teams with the same problem in the same division.

MHR's Division 1 team (K-5, less than age 12) placed first out of 14 teams. Their problem--called "Full Circle"--involved creating and presenting a humorous performance where something changes form or appearance at least three times, ultimately undergoing a final change where it returns to its original form and appearance. It had to include a silly character, a serious character, a song, a dance, and a surprise ending. These students won and will compete at the state level in Orlando on April 9, 2011:  Chloe S., Zeke H., Cannon G., Connor G., Ben K., and Emma H.

The following students also participated in Odyssey of the Mind:

Placing 7th of 18 teams: Jason B., Adam K., Elizabeth W., Sofia A., Dustin T., and Joshua A.

Placing 12th of 17 teams: Charles N., Veronica S., Amanda L., Ariel. L-C., Lindsay C., and Lara L.

Also competing were: Adrian E., Laura W., Samantha W., Gillian G., Roland S., and Ben H.
